Best wishes to our pro/secretary, Steve Barr, who had a mild heart attack last month but is recovering well and, we hope, will be back at the club for light duties in the reasonably near future. In the meantime many thanks to Ron Maine, Tom Pinchbeck and others who have been looking after the pro shop.

Apologies for the recent problems we’ve been experiencing with the showers. This has been due to a faulty pump, which we were hoping to be able to repair. However, the only option now is to get a new pump and this may well have been fitted by the time you read this.

Remember that as a full member you can now bring a total of three guests to play at the club on a Saturday afternoon at the special price of £15 per person.

We have a new ‘major’ cup on the horizon that is open to all, including five-day and junior members. The Ben Musk Trophy, in memory of the late Ben Musk and kindly donated by his family, will be played for on the three days of 3,4,& 5 August in a stableford format. For a chance to get your name on the honours board, just enter as you normally would for a midweek spoon, ie by putting your money in an envelope and posting it in the box in the changing room. The entrance fee is £4.

Why not come down and watch the excitement of the final day of the Open Championship at the club on Sunday 18 July? The bar will be open until it finishes and food will be available.

Entries for the Pro-Am are now closed, with 45 teams in the frame. Please remember that the course will be closed on that day – Wednesday 21 July – but that you are welcome to come down to the club to see how the pros tackle the course and to have a drink or two.
